How can a child still in diapers, that barely knows how to read, be able to play and navigate through programs on a tablet? What provokes their curiosity? .... It's the child appealing graphics!




Watching a child use a tablet is a good way of understanding the User eXperience. In a child's blissful innocence to playfully interact with a program the child is subliminally conditioning his or her thoughts to recognize graphics and symbols to navigate the web app. This learning process is a good example of a user experience. As the child is enthusiastically browsing the program he or she is learning at the same time. This in essence is the user experience process.

Be mindful

Now it's up to the UX designer to create an online experience for them. The job of the UX designer is to create an environment that is aesthetically pleasing and user friendly to navigate for the child to have a great learning experience. "How well can a designer create an imaginary picture in a child's mind to hold their attention and continue the learning process?", is a question a UX designer would be thinking about while developing this user environment.


The designer has to be mindful of catering to the child's needs. It doesn't need to be complicated just easy and pleasurable enough for the child to have an amazing learning experience. The objective is to intrigue the child to want to learn more. To make learning fun.


Be the end user

Creating an amazing user learning experience consists of the functionality and usability of the web page, and being mindful of the end user. Put yourself in the position of the user whether it be a child, a teen, a parent, or a grand parent when developing the design environment. Do research and look at similar web applications to compare. Be consistent with the theme brand but don't be afraid to add your own personal touch. Step back and look at the overall design theme and imagine mapping out a story line. Always anticipate the end users next move and guide them in the right direction. You write the story, you set the course of action.


UX design is the story behind the visuals. It's the what, when, where, and how someone uses the product. UX design is the behavioral science of graphics communications.
